Editorial Policy: How We Source, Check and Correct Fee Figures
Published ยท Updated
Fee figures decide real retirement money, so this page sets out the rules every page on Lowest Fee Gold IRA follows.
Who is responsible
Jan Wirum, the editor, reviews and is accountable for every page. There are no other bylines, no ghost authors under invented names and no personas.
Where figures come from
- Each company figure comes from one maintained record with a source link, a check date and a status for every field.
- We prefer primary sources: the company's own fee pages, FAQs and agreements; custodian schedules; regulator and court records; IRS pages.
- Another review site is never a source of fact for us. If a figure only appears on a third-party site, we leave it out.
- Where a company's own pages disagree, we use the newest and say that the sources disagree.
- Where nothing is published, we write "not published" with the date we checked, not an estimate.
Numbers we won't publish
We don't publish return figures, price forecasts, invented examples presented as fact, star ratings or scores. Worked examples on this site use published fees and say what they assume. Percentages in examples, such as the markup illustrations, are taken from a company's published range and labelled as such.
Money and independence
Goldco and Augusta Precious Metals pay us, as set out in the affiliate disclosure. Neither sees or approves pages before publication. Neither can change a figure, remove a fact or buy a better position in the calculator; the calculator sorts by cost and lists equal totals alphabetically, so payment has no effect on position.
When the figures don't favour a partner, we say so. Goldco's account fees are the custodian's standard schedule with nothing taken off, and it publishes no fee waiver; every page that discusses fees says that.
Risk and advice
We write about costs, not about whether gold suits you. We don't tell anyone to buy, sell or roll over, and we don't give tax or legal advice. Where tax rules come into it, we point to the IRS and suggest a tax professional.
Updates and dates
Each page shows the date it was last updated and the date its facts were checked. We recheck company records at least every 90 days and sooner when a fee, waiver or regulator action changes. We never backdate a page.
Corrections
Send a correction with a source through the contact page. If we're wrong, we fix every page that uses the figure and note the change on the page.
